New lipstick in my vanity table! Is it good? Letโs break down my first impressions.
Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Lipstick has been around for a long time. But recently it has gained popularity again and went viral in social media.
It claims to be transfer-proof and smudge-proof and wouldnโt go away no matter how much you ate and drank until you decided to wipe it off with lip remover.
I was particularly intrigued to try the shade Light Rose, as it seems to look like the kind of baby pink shade that I usually picked.
But I decided to visit the Chanel counter instead and see how the other shades would look on my skin tone.
Lipstick & Skintone References
I am light-medium skintoned with neutral, slightly peach undertones (240N in Fenty Beauty; ๐ check out my shade matches on this page).
For references, my favourite pinky shades are MAC Cosmetics Maxcimal Lipstick in Kinda Sexy and Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Lipstick in Sweet Coral (๐ check out my other current beauty favourites too on this page!). For a brighter pink, some of my favourites are LโOreal Color Riche Intense Lipstick in Iced Litchi and NARS Explicit Lipstick in Temptation.
Initially, I was about to choose Light Rose, as I have been seeing people try it and it looks great on their skin tone. But after seeing the other shades, I tried 174 Endless Pink, which somehow looks more harmonious with my skin tone.
Shade Light Rose is a tiny bit cooler and muted, while Endless Pink looks warmer and coral.
On the screen, both may not be that different. But in real swatch, the comparison is pretty clear! Sadly I forgot to take the pic at the counter. ๐ต
So, I ended up picking up the 174 Endless Pink cause I think the coral undertone would help colour-correct my purple lips ๐

Texture
The pigment side is actually quite translucent when I swatched it. I mean, it is not like full coverage in a swipe like a normal liquid lipstick. I donโt know whether it supposed to be like this or was it because this is brand new ๐ But it is buildable and I can make more coverage as I add more.

The texture is like their Rouge Allure Ink, but less mousse-y. This is side by side comparison between Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue in 174 Endless Pink with Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 202 Secrete:

Secrete is more brownish and muted, while Endless Pink has more white in the pink and is brighter.
The gloss also feels really nice and non-sticky or too oily. My first impression when I top the lipstick with the gloss is that it makes it look and feel like Iโm putting on a creamy lipstick but with the staying power of a transfer-proof lipstick.
Performance
I applied the lipstick before I started working out to see if it can stand the sweat and drinks. This is how it looks on me with one swipe (n.b. The lighting in my gym is not that bright, so pardon the low quality ๐คช). As you can see, the first swipe of the freshly opened lipstick cannot cover my two-toned lips:

Then I decided to add one more swipe on top of the gloss just to see how it blends out, and I think it brings out more true colour. It also feels just right and comfortable.
This is me at home after the workout session, after the hot and humid weather and so many water bottles ๐ :

Love the pink so much ๐ฅฐ
Itโs soft and bright and has a good balance of cool and warmth. The lipstick is also very comfortable, not drying or becoming flaky, as was my previous experience using a similar product from NYX.
Since this is a first impression post, I have yet to know its staying power and performance for all-day use. But so far, I am pleased with the purchase.

Have you tried this lip product too? Let me know your experience in the comments! ๐
