I first fell in love with L’Eau D’Issey EDT when my friends and I decided to randomly visit Sephora in VivoCity because they wanted to try out some fragrances. As someone who is very sensitive to smell, finding a fragrance that would not make me nauseous is quite challenging for me. And when I found one that I liked, I would buy bottles and bottles of it for the next multiple years (I have bought like 7 bottles of Paris Hilton’s Heiress EDP from 2013 to 2018).
I tried quite a few, but Eau de Issey just feels right: light, soft, and elegant—that’s how I would like to describe it. But the price is very expensive; I think it’s around SGD 140++ for 50 ml in Sephora SG.
A few months later, when I came to Australia to study, I found the same perfume in Chemist Warehouse (Australia’s biggest pharmacy chain) for AUD 49.9—which is cheaper. Since I don’t bring fragrance with me, I decided to buy it, and boy it has been my daily go-to fragrance for the whole two years of my stay.
Scent
Listen, I am not a fragrance enthusiast. I do not collect, and I do not care about trends. As long as they suit me and do not make me nauseous, I’m in.
At first, the scent brings nostalgic memories of the kind of perfume my mum used to wear when I was younger: floral, powdery, and jasmine-y.
But this product does not use jasmine. According to their official website:
“L’Eau d’Issey Eau de Toilette is a floral aquatic fragrance for women. In the top notes floats a floral duo made of lotus accord and rose. The heart notes convey a light sensuality, combining a lily accord and a fresh floral bouquet. The precious woody base notes complete the olfactory trail brilliantly.”

Performance
As I have said previously, I am very sensitive to scent, so I mainly use it on my wrist, nape of the neck, and chest. I do not like applying fragrance excessively, and I don’t think it is appropriate either for the people around us.
For an EDT, in my body, it stays all day. When I put them on, like at 8 AM, the scent is still there when I get back home around 4. Do note that my activity is mainly indoor, although I do walk a lot to commute or change buildings.
I do spray them on my coat as well, and usually the scent stays on for days without turning weird. Which I found quite nice, as it is able to linger on my stuff.
Versatility
This eau de toilette is perfect for daily wear for work or classes. I found the notes and projections on overall performance are rather polite and would not disturb people in public places.
Personally, I think people can wear this all year long for both casual and formal occasions, depending on one’s preference. I usually wear a stronger and grander scent when attending parties; my go-to is Givenchy L’Interdit and Dior’s Blooming Bouquet EDP. However, these two are too strong for my taste for daily wear.
You can wear this for weddings if you like soft and floral scents. But honestly, I think it would be too soft for wedding parties. If you are a bride, I would suggest trying their EDP version or something similar for a much stronger scent and projection.
Value & Practicality
I bought 50 ml for AUD 49.9 (around SGD 44.5 in 2023), and I still have half a bottle in mid-2025. Honestly, it is not bad at all!
It is in a nice frosted glass bottle, and so far I don’t have any leaking problems when packing it in a suitcase. I also put some of the liquid in a travel-size perfume atomiser spray so I can bring it in my bag in case I want to touch up.

Final Verdict
I would buy it again until I got really bored, I think. My mindset is to not change what has been working for me if there is no problem.
I was quite curious about OUAI Melrose Place EDP since I love their body creme, also in Melrose Place, so much (👉 check out my other current favourites in this page) , but I don’t see myself using it daily, as I prefer EDT for my daily fragrance.
