Review: Club Suppin Skincare Powder C – Face Powder You Can Put On Before Sleep?!

As a super oily-skinned girl, I collect face powders like Pokรฉmon. Like, what do you need? Compact powder? โœ… loose powder? โœ… translucent? โœ… Non-translucent? โœ… Youโ€™ve got the point.

I have been seeing Club Suppin Skincare Powder C all over social media. It is a Japanese hybrid makeup and skincare product. While itโ€™s been going super viral now, Suppin Powder C has been around since 2014. I have already seen this powder many times before, both in-store and online. I just never have the urge to buy it โ€˜cause I thought it wouldnโ€™t do much for my super oily skin.

But I changed my mind when the ads said that this powder is skincare-based and not only can set your makeup and mattify your skin all day, but you can even put it on after your night skincare before sleeping to keep the product applied from getting sticky or scrubbed away. What?!

So obviously I bought it to see if it can tame this oily skin under the humid, tropical climate.

Club Suppin Powder C – green

I bought mine at Welcia Singapore (though I hope one day I can go to Welcia Japan) for around 23 SGD.

The suppin powder does come in a variety of scents and types. This Welcia only has the green one, which is โ€œfragrance of white floral bouquet.โ€ The official website describes this as โ€œa fragrance that brings happiness, reminiscent of a bouquet of white flowers.โ€ (Google Translated because my kanji isnโ€™t great).

It smells okay. The fragrance did not linger on my face after application. On my hand, it only leaves the faintest hint of the fragrance if you really put your nose to it.

I will rewrite the text from the picture I took from the back of the packaging as follows:

The packaging

There is also some additional information from Club Suppin’s official website (Japanese) that is not included on the packaging. You can use Google Translate to help read the website https://www.clubcosmetics.co.jp/club-suppin/powder/

Whatโ€™s Inside The Product

The compact powder comes with a white puff with a ribbon on it. It feels good, soft, and fluffy. In my opinion, the quality is good.

Thereโ€™s also a plastic film between the puff and the powder that you can peel and put back. But I chose not to just throw it out due to the inconvenience of having to remove it and put it somewhere safely if I want to touch it up.

How to Use

According to the instructions on the back of the packaging:

โ˜€๏ธ Day Time Use: Use as settling or oil-control powder to create bright and clear tone skin like bare face like with light as air fine powder to conceal pores and illuminate skin tone.

๐ŸŒ™ Night Time Use: Use puff to take a small amount and apply evenly onto skin after night time skincare routine to reduce the heavy and sticky sense of other skincare products. Application after shower does not require removal during sleep, beautifying and caring for skin at night.

OK

Now guys, to be honest, I am not really sure about putting makeup on before sleeping. So I will only be using it for daytime, which is mainly to set my sunscreen and makeup and also to mattify my skin throughout the day.

Who is it for

Although it does not say specifically for which skin type, I believe it works for all skin types, including both oily and dry skin types.

Try-on

Club Suppin powder C is a translucent powder. But donโ€™t be surprised when you first tap into the skin; it does show as white until you blend it in.

Tapped vs after blended – club suppin powder c

It does not appear to look ghostly in my skin tone after blending. But I would suggest people with deeper skin tones try it first at the store and see if it wonโ€™t leave any white cast (as it claims) on your skin tone.

The texture is not as powdery as I thought it would be. It feels smooth, fresh, and moisturising. Different from the matte powdery finish of MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Set + Blur Translucent Loose Powder, innisfree No Sebum Loose Powder, and Laneige Neo Blurring Powder.

Maybe because this is a compact powder?

My point is that the finish felt moisturising. Like putting on a smooth veil on top of the skin as compared to normal mattifying powders.

I can see dry-skinned girls would like it too.

My Experience

Yesterday, I used the powder to set my sunscreen (I am using Allie Gel UV EX) before I went to my Pilates class. It did reduce the shine from the sunscreen and made my skin more matte. But upon application, I felt the finish was not as dry as I hoped it would be. Even NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder feels more matte than this one. I’m also pretty sure it’s not going to be as long-lasting as my other mattifying powder. I was right.

I did get oilier by 2 hours after application and even more after the exercise. In comparison, my Laneige Skin Veil Tone-Up powder can mattify my skin and even make it stay matte after commuting and exercising.

The good thing was there was no residue or weird aftereffects from the powder.

Still curious, I used it again today to test and set my makeup before I went to attend Beauty Fiesta 2025 (n.b. a post about this event will be coming soon!). I use my usual, tried-and-true Armani Luminous Silk Foundation as a base and use Club Suppin Powder to set it.

It did set beautifully and feels like it melted into my skin in a good way. It did not make the base clumped or cracked. It also did not cling to my dry patches!

The puff also makes it easy to use. I use a tapping motion instead of swiping to deposit the powder and to avoid my makeup clumping. The finish was beautiful.

I went outside at 11:30 AM, and by around 5 PM, my skin had turned very oily. My foundation is still intact, though. No clumping, no fading, no cracking (but that’s Armani Luminous Silk for you ๐Ÿ‘)โ€”but definitely not matte anymore. For 6 hours, I would say the oil control of this powder is not performing well on my skin.

Final verdict

I don’t think I will recommend this powder for oil control or to mattify skin, especially to people with very oily skin like me. But if you are looking for a basic, translucent compact powder that can set your skin without drying it, you may like this one. Personally, I like my powder to give me a really matte finish.

The plus point goes to its moisturising feel. I understand why this is also marketed as skincare and can be used to set our skincare before sleep. Maybe, after this, I will try using this powder at night more than I use it during the day.

If you have dry or combo skin, you might love this to set your face. It is smooth, moisturising, and gives a veil-like finish. I will still keep it in my purse to touch up after using blotting papers. But for total oil control powder, I will still be loyal to my MAC set + blur and Laneige powders.

Oh wait, there are other versions too?! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

So if you look up the official website, there are several versions of Club Suppin Powder other than the regular pink and green C ones. Here they are (n.b., the Google Translate plugin was used to automatically translate from Japanese to English):

1. Osmanthus citrus scent version

2. Suppin loose powder (light beige for no-makeup makeup look)

3. Mixed juice scent version

4. Suppin powder cool (gives cooling effect)

5. Powder UV version

6. Suppin whitening powder

I donโ€™t know if these versions are available outside Japan, but if I came across the UV Powder version, I would be very interested to try it.
