Everything I’m Trying Out for The FIRST TIME – October 2025

As the weather gets hotter, my skin has been producing a lot more oil and sweat. It is not great news at all since my skin is very acne-prone, and once I get a new bump, it takes forever to calm it AND remove the discolouration afterwards.

So I am trying out some new products to help keep my skin barrier and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (which many are the leftovers from acne I got like last year or something 😭).

I thought this is a perfect timing to try, as today is the beginning of October, and I wanna see the impact of these new products by the end of the month. With that being said, I will do my best to regularly use them every day.

Melano CC Vitamin C Premium Brightening Essence

This product is viral, not only in Japan but also in Korea and the TikTok space (yeah, TikTok is like an alien region to me). It actually ranked number 1 for brightening serum.

They have two different versions: the regular (silver tube) and premium (golden tube) versions. I chose the premium version because the packaging explicitly said it is for “brighten, pore refining & helps to fight acne”, which is definitely rather perfect for me.

This version also has 4 different vitamin C derivatives, while the regular has only one. Well, as simple as it sounds, it is just common sense to me that the premium essence should be able to help with my persistent PIH.

So far the texture is oily when you squeeze it straight from the tube. However, it absorbed really well and does not feel oily at all on my face! Can’t wait to see how it performs for the next 30 days 🩷

Cetaphil Gentle Exfoliating SA Lotion

🎀 Also see my review for Cetaphil Gentle Exfoliating SA Cleanser here

I am trying out the moisturiser lotion version for my evening skincare routine as part of my sandwich method with tretinoin. The reason I chose this product is because it has a really gentle formulation of three acids: salicylic acid, mandelic acid, and PHA. The ‘gentle’ needs an emphasis because often times when I combined acids, they gave me bad reactions (and I am a self-proclaimed veteran acid user!).

I’m also using this for keratosis pilaris, mainly on my legs.

You might wonder whether it’s safe to combine acids with retinoid products. Well, if you are a newbie, then the answer is probably not. But I have been a regular user of medical-grade retinoid acids since 2018, including Accutane (the most potent retinoid that is taken orally). I also have been using my tretinoin with glycolic acid for a long time, and it gives much better results for me as compared to using tret alone.

So far, it works really great, and I have only been using it for 4 days. It does not sting nor make me red. I will keep continuing to use it. every night.

Seapuri Scalpy Hair Serum

I bought this product because I respect the user-friendliness of the tube, which has a roller on it for easy application. Secondly, I was rather influenced (again) because one influencer that I trust shows how much baby hair she got after using this. I am sold 😂

We have been trying Growell shampoo for the past month, and it made our hair fall more than before. I actually make my scalp more noticable. So we changed back our shampoo and I wanna see if this product reduce the number of hair fall in a month.

I am using this twice a day; so far it is not oily and also has a cooling effect. I am hopeful for the product!

Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cleansing Foam

It actually just came in the mail an hour ago, so I have not yet tried it. But I have had such a great experience with the Laneige Water Bank line in the past. I bought the whole line to help my dermatitis when I was weeks away from my wedding, and it did wonders on calming my skin. So I thought I could try the cleansing foam one.

This cleanser has papaya enzyme that provides daily gentle exfoliation as an alternative to acids since I have already incorporated it in the moisturiser form.

I have currently been using Innisfree Green Tea Amino Hydrating Foam for a month now, and it works really well. So I am planning to use Laneige’s for morning cleanser and Innisfree’s for nighttime.

Laneige Cream Skin Zincpeptide 2-in-1 Toner & Gel Moisturizer (new launch 2025)

I am so excited for this new product from Laneige because this is the sister product of the infamous Cream Skin Cerapeptide Refiner. In the morning, I prefer my skincare to be lightweight so it won’t further clog my pores and make my skin even oilier.

Usually I just add a serum and an SPF as part of my morning routine. So if I want to add further nourishment, I think a lightweight toner is the perfect addition.

The product has niacinamide, zinc, and peptide, which are wonderful to calm your skin and control sebum while also plumping it. Unlike the Cerapeptide, the Zincpeptide 2-in-1 toner is actually formulated for oily skin.

I will be using this twice a day:

  • Morning: before serum and SPF
  • Evening: as part of the sandwich method, before my tretinoin and Cetaphil Gentle SA moisturiser.
