Mineral sunscreen is great for sensitive skin and those who are trying to improve dark spots. In many cases, mineral sunscreen tends to be tricky to use because it can leave white casts. Or, in my experience, they are often very oily and goopy, making my already very oily skin feel even more uncomfortable.
Paula’s Choice has a skincare line, RESIST, which caters to people with oily combination skin. I found out about their Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 from a YouTuber who also has oily, acne-prone skin and is using tretinoin like me. She loved it very much, and I have been influenced to try.
In this post, I will share my experience using Paula’s Choice RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 and give you my thoughts about the product.
The Claims

According to their official website, this sunscreen product is described as follows:
“A lightly tinted mineral-based anti-aging moisturizer with SPF protection that minimizes shine by absorbing excess oil. This is a daytime anti-aging moisturizer someone with oily/combination skin will love and never want to be without!”
- SPF: 30
- Suitable for: oily, combination, and normal skin types
- Skin concerns: anti-aging, enlarged pores, wrinkles, uneven tone
- Skincare benefits: formulated with antioxidants, can be used as a daytime moisturiser for oily/combo skin, oil control
- Finish: sheer-tinted with matte finish
From what I know, this sunscreen is not water-resistant. So if you are planning to go swimming, please add water-resistant sunscreen.
This product comes in 60 ml and 15 ml. It’s quite handy to bring the 15 ml if you are planning to do some touch-up. Although the 60 ml bottle itself is quite small and compact to bring everywhere.
My Experience
Shade Match
The tint works for my skin tone, although I think it is slightly one tone lighter than mine. But after blending it, it matches pretty well. It can cover redness and some of my dark spots.
Since the tint is beige, it does not make my face look ghastly. In comparison, when I used a peach tone-up sunscreen from Allie, my husband was wondering if i was wearing a foundation that is too light for me ๐

Overall, it looks like a pretty great match. Although, if you have a deeper skin tone than me, it would probably leave a white cast. I highly suggest trying it in person at the offline store to see if it’s blending to your skin tone before buying (also read: see what foundations and concealers I use here).

Performance and Longevity
As usual, I use 1/4 teaspoon or 2 fingers long for my face and neck area. This is a lot of product, and this sunscreen feels moisturising yet turns into a soft matte on my skin. It melts beautifully and, most importantly, did not turn my face into an oil well.
It is also quite long-lasting. I mainly do indoor activities and commuting with public transportation, though.
This sunscreen also works excellently as a primer. I put a powder foundation or sometimes cushion foundation on top of it; this sunscreen makes the base makeup adhere better and smoothens the appearance of my pores. Because it’s also tinted, it also improves the intensity of the coverage from my base products.
Do I recommend it?
YES, absolutely! I was wondering where this sunscreen has been all my life, and why didn’t I try it sooner? Definitely recommend it if you have super oily, acne-prone skin and are looking for a daily sunscreen that can double as makeup.
In fact, I think this sunscreen is almost too good to be true, although I’m worried that one day in the future we might get bad news that the SPF is not as claimed because it has such a lovely and lightweight formulation. But I hope it’s not.
Will I repurchase it?
YES. It is quite expensive, but I would rather buy one that I love and use it to the very last bit than keep buying one after the other and find them just average.
It is quite rare for me to like sunscreens, especially the ones that work on my skin type like this one.
If you are my regular readers, you know how rare it is for me to actually consider repurchasing a product. I am happy to share that Paula’s Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 is one of my new staples on my vanity table.
