Beauty Repurchases – Buying my second bottles of Cetaphil SA Cleanser and Paula’s Choice RESIST 2% BHA

Recently I’ve been having a breakout, mostly on my forehead and jawline near my left ear. I have been consistently using my skincare, but I guess things can flare up just because of many things.

I just knew I had to repurchase products that had worked for me before and were proven to keep my acne flare-ups at bay.

I repurchase Cetaphil Gentle Exfoliating SA Cleanser from the local Guardian store. I had finished one bottle, and it worked perfectly great on my oily, acne-prone skin. I love my Innisfree Green Tea Hydrating Cleanser too, but I think I need to switch to this one first until my skin improves.

This Cetaphil cleanser does not gently exfoliate, but it also makes my skin plump and shiny after cleansing. You can read my review of Cetaphil Gentle Exfoliating SA Cleanser here.

I also bought my second bottle of Paula’s Choice RESIST Daily Pore Perfecting Treatment 2% BHA. This one, in my opinion, is way more suited for oily skin compared to the black bottle one.

I initially used this last year when I had a bad breakout due to stress from studying. It works wonderfully after using it once. It is non-oily and fast-absorbing yet moisturising. The black and turquoise bottles were too harsh and made my skin very goopy โ€“ I never liked them.

The sky blue bottle is part of the RESIST line, which is intended for oily and combination skin. I already loved the Daily Advanced SPF from the RESIST line as well (read here); it was perfect for oily skin.

Do not worry about seeing me using an acid-based cleanser and exfoliating toner afterwards. I am a veteran on acid. My skin is literally clogging itself to death because of the sebum overproduction (thanks Dad!) and I have to incorporate acid-based products to control it.

I live in a very hot and humid city. I don’t need moisturiser โ€“ my treatment serum/toner has already provided the necessary amount of moisturiser for my skin type. People in different part of earth with different skin situation might not agree, but I have lived in this skin for 30 years so I know what works for me and what doesn’t.

Anyway, I’m really excited to reuse my old favourites. Hope this breakout will be over soon.
